Hello world! Hope everyone is having a good week so far. For this post, I just wanted to touch on a sensitive topic. It’s just that lately, a little more than usual, I’m hearing so much hate and negativity. So I apologize in advance if I end up offending anyone.
This post will contain some gaming stuff too, but it applies to real life as well. Recently, Blizzard Entertainment has released some more lore for it’s characters, Ana and Soldier 76, in the game Overwatch. It was revealed in the short story that Soldier 76 is indeed a gay character and that in the lore, he had dated a man. This is where everything gets crazy. The Overwatch community, those who play Soldier 76, those who play DPS, or whoever this offended, got enraged at the fact that Blizzard had yet another gay character on the roster, including Tracer, who was revealed to be gay a while ago. People were threatening to quit Overwatch and were saying that the whole thing was so forced just to make the game interesting.
Guys, it’s 2019. Let’s all get over this whole label thing, yeah? First of all, Soldier 76 being gay does NOT affect his gameplay AT ALL. And second of all, why does it matter if anyone is gay, straight, white, black, Asian, Hispanic, or whatever. WE ARE ALL PEOPLE. We are all striving for the same things. We just want to be. Everyone has their own dreams and their own goals. Let’s not put people down just because they’re different. The cool thing is, being different makes the world a bit more interesting. If we were all the same, it’d be boring as heck.
Just saying guys… can we all be more mature about these things? We all occupy the same space, the same world, planet, whatever. Tearing each other down makes it all toxic. Yuck! I just wish everyone would get along. Cliché, I know. Anyways, that’s all I wanted to say. Stay positive, guys. ~~ yours truly, Tim.
